Shea Butter Empowers Native Women

Just ran across an interesting article published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) about how Shea Butter empowers native peoples. UNDP is the United Nations global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. They are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges.

The article is very inspiring. It details the partnership of Japan-UNDP along with women’s Shea Butter cooperatives in Ghana. The article states that “…because of the shea butter project, the Ghanaian entrepreneurs have learnt to work in groups and acquired skills to improve their productivity. They added that they are happy because the training center also serves as an evening adult school, and that the skills have enabled them to participate better in at-home decision making.”
