Shea Butter Special Tip # 4

SHEA BUTTER SPECIAL TIP 4#

Using Shea Butter as a Cleanser or Make-Up Remover

Shea Butter can be used as a cleanser and make-up remover using the “oil cleansing method” which involves washing the face with shea butter or some other oil.

When you use oil to remove oily dirt you’re employing the chemical principle called “like dissolves like.” In other words, oils will dissolve other materials that have a similar chemical structure. As an example let’s look at Shea Butter. The atoms in Shea Butter (the solvent) are held together by covalent bonds. Now, if the solute is greasy makeup or skin oils (aka sebum), it also consists of atoms that are hooked together with covalent bonds. So that means that Shea Butter is similar enough to dissolve all the gunk on your face. Cool, huh?!

So next time you need to remove dirt or make-up from your face, grab your favorite Shea Butter and massage into your face in circular motions. Wipe off with a gentle cloth for clean healthy face.

Shea Butter as a Cleansing Oil

Welcome back to Part II of our Head to Toe Shea Butter treatment series! Last time we talked about the many different uses starting with the top of your head. Now we will focus on the many facial options for this miracle cream such as a cosmetic remover, moisturizer, exfoliation, anti-aging-treatment, and as a make-up primer. Today we will focus first on using Shea Butter as a Cosmetic Remover.

Cosmetic Remover
When removing make-up from your skin, it is important that you keep in mind that oil dissolves oil. This means that an oil such as Shea Butter is great for removing oil based cosmetics. In fact, oil alone will not cause blemishes which are a result of several different factors including hormones, bacteria, dead skin cells and the buildup these on your skin.

Shea Butter can be used as a cleansing oil for easy removal of all cream and grease makeup. After makeup has been removed, the skin feels fresh and relaxed as it deeply cleans while preserving the skin's necessary protective lipid layer.

First begin by evenly massaging the butter into makeup areas of the skin. This causes the makeup to gently dissolve. Next follow the steps below for amazing make-up removal:

-Use a soft terry cloth (organic cotton would be great!) and rinse it in hot steamy water. Place it over your face after wringing it out.

-Gently wipe your face an neck with the steamy wash cloth in soft upward circular motions

- Repeat once or twice if necessary

- Use luke-warm water if you have dry skin (cold water if you have oily skin) and splash on your skin

- Pat dry with a soft terry towel

Now enjoy your clean, healthy glowing skin which is soft and supple and NEVER taut or tight from harsh make-up removers.

The following step involves moisturizing and we will talk about this next time.
