Lavender Shea Butter for Pregnant Moms

Bringing a new life into the world is exciting and thrilling but can also be quite a stressful time to women. Nurturing the body with healthy, safe and effective personal care products like Lavender Shea Butter can reduce stress for mothers-to-be.

The Journal of Advanced Nursing talks about a study in which blind randomized clinical trial is described, involving three groups of mothers, one using pure lavender oil, one a synthetic lavender oil and one an inert substance as a bath additive for 10 days following normal childbirth. The study showed that between the 3rd and 5th days those women using pure lavender oil as a bath additive had lower mean discomfort scores.

Smoother, Firmer, Younger Skin

One of the oldest forms of healing dating back thousands of years is massage. When most people think of massage they think of going to the spa and having massages on their shoulder, back, legs, etc. Many people do not realize the benefits of a regular facial massage

Benefits of a Facial Massage
A facial massage using a rich revitilaizing moisturizer like Shea Butter instantly stimulates circulation while enhancing your skin color. Years of research have shown that facial massages do the following:

  • Decrease fine lines and skin sagging

  • Normalize the skin’s delicate moisture balance

  • Release impurities that could damage your complexion

  • Leave skin more radiant and younger-looking

With a Shea Butter Facial Massage, you can experience all the benefits of a traditional facial within the privacy of your home.

Shea Butter Facial Massage Directions:
1. Maximize the revitalizing benefits of your Shea Facial Massage by creating a quiet, serene environment.

2. Always start with a clean face. Smooth Shea Butter over your face and on your fingertips, using enough to allow your fingers to glide on your face. Apply more as needed throughout the massage.

3. While using light strokes and circular motions, work the shea butter in from the middle of your face outward.

4. Starting from your collarbone going towards your chin, stroke your neck gently in upward strokes to prevent crows neck.

5. Starting from the sides of your nose and going towards your forehead, gently massage the area around the eyes

Chocolate Shea Butter Controversy

Did you know that fine rich European Chocolates are often made with Shea Butter?

In Europe and Asia, substituting cocoa butter with vegetable oils such as Shea Butter has been going on for the past 30 years. Now in the US, it's been less than a year since the debate started but chocolate manufacturers would like to do what their European and Asian counterparts have been doing for years.

Some chocolate companies say that's unthinkable however others are in favor of this saying that this will reduce the costs for both them and the consumer. Both the Chocolate and Grocery Manufacturers Associations are behind the proposed changes and insist there will be clear labeling.

Currently, the Food and Drug Administration does not allow manufacturers to use Shea Butter in the United States a cocoa-butter substitute. For more information about this battle please visit the Chocolate Manufacturers Association (CMA) website which has served as the premier trade group for manufacturers and distributors of cocoa and chocolate products in the United States since 1923. http://www.chocolateusa.org/

Paraffin versus Shea Butter Spa Manicure

Do you want the ultimate moisturizing and mega relaxing spa manicure free of toxic chemicals such as paraffin? Paraffin hand treatments have become quite popular however many people are unaware of their potential toxicity. Candle makers are very aware and many of them have switched to soy candles instead.

Well according to the CosmeticsDatabase.com paraffin is a carcinogen, irritant and might also cause major organic system toxicity. But no need to fret-Warm Shea Butter can be used in the place of paraffin for a safe, effective and luxurious spa-manicure. Just follow these steps:

1. Cleanse hands with warm water and natural cleanser.

2. Lightly heat Shea Butter until it is a warm liquid and place the liquid in a bowl.

3. Slowly immerse the hands in the bowl of Shea Butter.

4. Hold fingers slightly apart so that the Shea Butter surrounds each finger.

5. Repeat once or twice with each hand.

6. Cover the hand with a protective plastic liner and then slip on and cover with mittens. This retains heat for a longer treatment.

7. Allow the Shea Butter to remain in place until the heat goes away.

8. Remove and plastic liner and mitten and massage the Shea Butter, working into cuticles and dry spots.

9. Wipe off remaining Shea Butter with a soft cloth.

And there you have it – Ultra soft and supple hands that look younger and smoother without toxic chemicals!

Shea Butter Empowers Native Women

Just ran across an interesting article published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) about how Shea Butter empowers native peoples. UNDP is the United Nations global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. They are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges.

The article is very inspiring. It details the partnership of Japan-UNDP along with women’s Shea Butter cooperatives in Ghana. The article states that “…because of the shea butter project, the Ghanaian entrepreneurs have learnt to work in groups and acquired skills to improve their productivity. They added that they are happy because the training center also serves as an evening adult school, and that the skills have enabled them to participate better in at-home decision making.”
